Introducing Pathways Employability Programme: Empowering Young People Towards Meaningful Employment

Updated: Jul 25

At Open Lens Media, we understand that the journey to meaningful employment can be challenging for young people facing significant barriers. That’s why we are proud to introduce our Pathways Employability Programme - a creative, personalised programme designed to support young people aged 16-35 across Walsall and the wider Black Country area.

What is Pathways?

Pathways is a bespoke, creative employability programme that provides comprehensive employment and personal development support for young people. Our goal is to empower participants to overcome obstacles and move towards sustainable and fulfilling employment opportunities. There are 3 strands available for the young person to choose between: Personal Progression Pathway, Employability Pathway, and Creative Industries Pathway.

How do we do it?

  • Tailored 1-to-1 Sessions: Each participant engages in 12 free, customised 1-hour sessions with a dedicated facilitator.

  • Creative Approach: We’re not just any regular employability service; we believe in the power of creativity to unlock potential.

  • Holistic Support: Beyond employability skills, our programme also focuses on personal development for long-term success.

  • Coaching Opportunities: Participants can access additional coaching support from FNB Mentoring & Coaching.

Who Can Benefit?

Our programme is specifically designed for young people aged 16-35 who are facing challenges that hinder their employment prospects. We work closely with referral agencies such as:

  • Children’s homes: Assisting care leavers in transitioning to independent adulthood.

  • Youth centres: Engaging youth in constructive and goal-oriented activities.

  • Colleges: Complementing academic education with practical employability skills.

  • Young Offender institutes: Providing a second chance and a path to reintegration.

  • Job centres: Enhancing the support offered to job seekers.
