NATIONAL LOTTERY - HOLIDAYS AND AFTER SCHOOL MEDIA CLUB

We have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to run a Holiday and After School Media Club. During 2024, the OLM team have been out on the road across the Black Country area engaging local youth in a range of media-related activities to entertain but also provide subtle learning.

Delivery and Outcome

Centres that have been visited so far include Pleck Youth Centre in Walsall, Rowley Youth Club in Rowley Regis, and Coneygre Arts Centre in Tipton.

Activities that young people have been taking part in include several Kahoot media quizzes, film scene recreation, camera shot bingo, logline challenge, media word searches, and more.

68% of young people that participated in our Media Club gave us a 5 out of 5 stars for satisfaction, stating that our staff members are "nice, fun, respectful, kind, enthusiastic and helpful." The activities that the young people enjoyed the most were our photography and camera games, saying that it was fun to get to use our camera equipment. The young people have said that they have learnt new skills in camera angles and how to use a professional camera.

Thank you to The National Lottery for funding our Holiday and After School Media Club project.
