TRIANGLE TRUST - PATHWAYS PROGRAMME
There is a disproportionate representation of Black and Mixed Heritage boys both in Youth Justice Systems across England and Wales, and also within the Walsall Youth Justice System itself, with these boys also receiving longer custodial sentences than their White peers. Across the country, 4% of 10-17 year olds are Black children however they also account for 29% of the youth custody population.

To tackle this disproportionality, we have developed an offshoot of our Pathway Employability Programme to support boys leaving the System in Walsall.
In March 2023, we were awarded a grant from The Triangle Trust 1949 Fund. This grant will support us in continuing to deliver employment support and individual coaching to upskill and encourage young people to develop their personal and professional skills and secure brighter futures.

The Triangle Trust funding will be used to provide 6 months of Employability Skills and targeted development support of the boys’ personal goals and transferable skills whilst empowering them to feel ready for meaningful employment or further training.
